SAYDEE AND DEELORES

Saydee and Deelores, One act play by Melanie Maria Goodreaux

It's the 1940's in segregated New Orleans. Deelores Delacroy has a last bowl of gumbo with her family before sneaking off the next day with her husband to 'pass for white.' Saydee, the firecracker of the family, confronts her at the farewell dinner and lets everybody know what's really been cooking. Based on a true story, this play captures an insider's sense of Creole culture, humor and the complexities of race that exist in New Orleans.

SPADES

SPADES is an original dramedy about a haunted New Orleans Creole brothel that is visited by a team of Negro League baseball players in the late 1930’s. The Madame of the brothel spends every Saturday night playing cards with the ghost of her two dead sisters who met with tragic deaths. You never know who else will stop by for the game! SPADES is written by Charles E. Drew and was first produced at The House of Tribes and was later produced by Absolute Theater in New York City.

MOON LAKE CASINO

MOON LAKE CASINO, One act play by Charles E. Drew, Jr.

MOON LAKE CASINO is about four characters from various
Tennessee Williams' dramas that have been killed off before the start of their plays.
The characters were major motivations to each of their perspective story's protagonist, yet they never got their own chance in the spotlight. They sit and wait at Williams' often mentioned Mississippi River speakeasy Moon Lake Casino. These ghosts are caught in a never ending purgatory playing cards, drinking and confronting each other on their so-called personal faults. They are waiting to meet their maker, who may never show up.

A film version of MOON LAKE CASINO is currently being produced by 6TRAIN PRODUCTIONS in Los Angeles,California.
